“Made In USA” was added to the serial number stamp and the numbers were date coded in the same way that they had been between ’65 and ’67.

These serial numbers were also either 5 or 6 digit numbers, depending on the month of production.

It has the three screws securing the truss-rod cover so probably Asian manufacture.

The guitar has the thinnest neck, front to back, that I've ever seen on a guitar, thinner than the 1960s Gibson ES-335s. I have big hands and it's just not enough of a handful for me.

In January of 2003 the serial number scheme changed from the system previously used by Gretsch Guitars.

The serial number is 880509595 and it's located on a stick-on strip on the back of the headstock.
